Rahul Mishra Couture Fall 2025: 'Becoming Love' – A Tapestry of Emotion and Artistry

Rahul Mishra's Fall 2025 couture collection, ‘Becoming Love’, is a deeply philosophical and visually stunning exploration of affection, brought to life by the masterful hands of nearly 2,000 artists. This collection proudly establishes Mishra's role as a truly global voice, emerging from India to share its rich heritage and profound artistry with the world.

Mishra delved into the multifaceted nature of love, drawing inspiration from Sufism and art. He explained, "I was trying to explore the idea of love through philosophy, through art, through literature." His research revealed Sufism's seven stages of love: attraction, infatuation, love, trust or reverence, worship, madness, and death. Mishra clarified that "death" in this context isn't necessarily negative, but can also signify a positive transformation.

This profound philosophy subtly permeated the vivid and elegant collection. The show opened with a striking gold, sweeping sculptural dress that swirled into a heart shape, mirroring the heart-like black gown that closed the show. Both pieces offered the most literal interpretations of love within the lineup.

Flowers abounded throughout the collection, symbolizing love's blossoming nature. A model, wearing a similarly hued bodysuit, appeared almost like a flower herself, with larger-than-life lotus flowers springing from stem-like structures attached to her. Another full-length dress featured finely embroidered flowers, creating a stunning garden and tapestry effect. Mishra shared his vision of love in all its forms, noting that its blossoming "is full of beautiful memories." White pearl adornments further embellished several garments.

Mishra also drew inspiration from the artwork of Gustav Klimt, blending his iconic multiple faces and gold hues into some of the garments. He observed how Klimt's portrayal of "beautiful women... somehow reflected attraction, love or maybe reverence also," adding that "They carry something which is a kind of mystery."

In a notable first, Mishra collaborated with renowned milliner Stephen Jones, who crafted undulating tulle creations that perfectly complemented the collection's elegant looks.

As Mishra beautifully put it, "Love is constant, it stays on forever. This story belongs to every being." This collection truly embodies that sentiment, weaving a narrative of enduring love through exquisite craftsmanship and heartfelt design.
