This prelude to “The Great Beauty” is the inspiration for Zuhair Murad’s Spring Summer 2022 collection. Murad envisioned this journey through Italy in the 70s, an open-air museum that celebrates a culture of exoticism and aesthetics. Guided by a yearning for strolls without end to discover lush greenery, fountains with psychedelic jets, and spectacular landscapes, he has designed a collection of supreme femininity that reflects the subtle modernism of the best decade for fashion. 

Much like the cleanly designed yet verdant Italian gardens, the silhouettes are simultaneously simple and sophisticated. The flowing gowns in “fil coupé” or silk chiffon form geometric figures that weave through the labyrinths of the Villa Lantes.

Opposites attract, as showcased by a mix of styles between the architectural precision of safari cuts fashioned in ethereal lace and the organic softness of printed organza. The two admire one another, merge, then separate for a charming glamor.

A brief sojourn on the island of Ischia inspires a wardrobe of gowns and blouses in an idyllic fusion of graphic English embroidery on silk organza. The square necklines are reimagined into plunging necklines. Many are encompassed in a large supple knot, or even elevated by wispy ruffles for rhythmic flows of lightness.

A stroll through the exquisitely verdurous Boboli Gardens infuses silhouettes in the romanticism of crochet lace. Whether midi gowns or wide pants and tunics, everything is reworked in a frolic of transparency.

At times a sensual bustier leaves the arms bare. At other times they are ensconced with puffed bell sleeves, entirely embroidered with satin tulle or multicolored sparkling crystals. The synthesis between pure and ornamental manifests itself on the jackets in the contrast between cady and golden metal chains for a well-devised finish.

Beautiful evenings in Rome allow the imagination to run wild. The adornments and precious stones in a thousand pastel colors emerge among the light dresses in silk chiffon, draped cady, or taffeta, and are exhibited in various shapes and styles. Everywhere, free and buoyant pirouettes retrace a journey to utter joy. The shades of pastel are enhanced with vibrant colors to celebrate this passionate journey.
